Located in the south end of Richmond Hill is the David Dunlap Observatory that has been around since 1935 and owned by the University of Toronto until 2008. It has now been taken over by Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, Toronto Centre, and the David Dunlap Observatory Defenders.
Once it owned the title of being the second largest telescope in the world, with the primary mirror sizing as long as 74-inches in diameter, no longer is but is still the largest telescope in Canada.
To the best of my knowledge, the observatory has been closed since August 2016. But I keep my fingers crossed as I'd loved for it to be up and running again. Until than, people can still come a visit the outside of the observatory and check out the beautiful building/domes.
My gallery of my visit is below.
